Welcome to the Pilgrims Hospices palliative care library
Where is the library?
The main library is based in the Plender Building in Pilgrims Hospice, Canterbury. There is also a small selection of books at Thanet and Ashford.
Who is the library for?
As the library contains materials related to Palliative Care, usage is primarily aimed at healthcare professionals. Borrowing books is only permitted to contracted staff of Pilgrims Hospices. Others, including healthcare professionals in the community and attendees of courses or study days are welcome to use the library on a reference-only basis.
What is available in the library?
There is a multi-disciplinary collection of books, journals and articles. There is a small collection of educational videos. A computer is also available with Internet access, which can assist with additional research. Assistance regarding the facilities of the library can be arranged if needed.
When is the library open?
Browsing, loaning and working in the library is available Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.
However using the link below, searching and requesting books can be done at any time. Please note that requests to borrow a book can only be made by an employee of the Hospice.

For Pilgrims Hospices staff
You may not have the opportunity to personally visit the library, however if you have found a book of interest please call or email the Education and Training Department with the book details and we will send your chosen book(s) via internal mail to your site. Please refer to the Education and Training handbook page 9 and 10 for guidance on the Library.
