A Night to Remember – Moonlight Walk Raises £30,000!
Posted on 16 January 2013
Back in September 2012, on a rainy night in Herne Bay, 480 walkers took to the seafront to walk either 10 or 15km for Pilgrims Hospices. The dedication of these walkers has seen the total raised for the Moonlight Walk soar to an incredible £30,000.
Deborah Kellond, Regional Fundraising Manager was delighted with the total amount raised: “It is a testament to those who braved the wind and the rain to raise money for Pilgrims Hospices. There was a brilliant atmosphere on the night and the sponsor money has been coming in over the last few months. We’re incredibly pleased with this amount and we’d like to thank our supporters, our sponsors – EKS Ltd, Civil Service Insurance Society, Mama Feelgoods , Mr Simms Olde Shoppe, the Body Shop, Pink Lady Applies & Bodywell Fitness and our volunteers, without whom we could not make this happen. We are now planning this year’s event in earnest to make it bigger and better!”
The London Road hospice needs to raise in excess of £9.5 million each year in order to provide palliative care free of charge to over 2,000 members of the local community each year and the extensive calendar of events is just one of the many ways in which income is generated.
The Moonlight Walk is back for 2013 and will be held on Friday 13th September at the Kings Hall, Herne Bay. As with last year, the event is now open to men and children.
