Real ale enthusiasts raise funds for Pilgrims

The Thanet Branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) chose to use their Easter Beer Festival to help raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices. The festival is attended each year by more than 3,000 CAMRA members over two days who are encouraged to buy tokens to exchange for their chosen beer. This year, festival goers donated their unused tokens at the end of the event and CAMRA honoured the donations by pledging money to Pilgrims for each token.
The group meets at Thanet Pub of the Year, The Montiefore Arms in Ramsgate. Here, Club Chairman Julian Dungey, presented a cheque to Kay Smith, from Pilgrims Fundraising Team.
Julian said “It was a great event and the club are honoured to present £565.44 to Pilgrims Hospices. We are always keen to help local good causes.”
Kay Smith, Pilgrims fundraising assistant, said “We would like to thank members of the Thanet Branch of CAMRA for their kind and generous donation. It is through the support of the community that Pilgrims Hospices is able to provide quality care where it’s needed.”
