Cakes Galore for Pilgrims ‘Piece of Cake Week’
The Garlinge Women’s Institute also took up the challenge and gathered together with friends and family and raised £158 for Pilgrims Hospices on the 24th April.
Vi Smith a member of the Garlinge WI who kindly held the event in her garden said; “I was overwhelmed by the turn out and we all had an extremely enjoyable morning, in the much awaited sunshine, which made it extra special. There was a fabulous tombola, guess the weight of the cake and a plant sale. Great fun was had by all and we appreciated all the kind donations which raised this fantastic amount for our local Pilgrims Hospice.”
Karen Kenward Regional Fundraising Manager said, “We need to raise in excess of £10.5 million each year in order to be able to provide palliative care services free of charge to the local community and we receive over 75% of this from the local community. Fundraising is of vital importance and it is only through the continued generosity of supporters such as the Garlinge WI group that enable us to provide the care to all who need it in eastKent.”
