Cupcakes bring a taste of summer to hospice fair
Posted on 15 July 2013
SCRUMMY cupcakes made to an original recipe by the catering team of Pilgrims Hospice Thanet will have pride of place at its summer fair on Saturday 20 July.
Catering manager Cedric Towning and his staff included glace cherries, mixed peel and angelica in the recipe which was judged the best in a competition with Pilgrims two other hospices for a summer cupcake.
The summer fair will be open in the hospice grounds between 11am and 3pm. Books, plants, games, a barbecue and miniature donkeys will be on hand to make the day a special one.
Traditional stalls including a coconut shy, tombola and a grand raffle brimming with great prizes will add to the enjoyment.
Karen Kenward, Pilgrims regional fundraising manager, said: “This really is a lovely event, where everyone joins in – staff and many volunteers give up their time to make it such a successful day.
“The local community are so generous to us and help by supplying anything from raffle prizes to local produce; we really could not do it without them. Anyone wishing to make a donation can contact me on 01843 233934 – we are looking for plants, produce, raffle prizes and bottles for our tombola, so please do get in touch, it really does make such a difference.”
The summer fair is one of the events which helps Pilgrims to raise the £10.5 million it needs each year to deliver free care to patients with life-limiting conditions.
