Gareth and Friends Support Pilgrims Hospices
Gareth Harnett’s friends and family in Thanet mounted an immediate fundraising campaign to raise funds for the cost of his life saving medical treatment when he fell ill on holiday in Phuket, Thailand.
Once all the expenses had been paid there was still around £3,000 left which Gareth and his pals wanted to donate to Pilgrims Hospices.
Karen Kenward, Regional Fundraising Manager met with Gareth at the Hospice on Friday 22nd February and was presented with a cheque for £3064.37.
Karen said, “We take great pride in the fact that all our services are provided completely free of charge. Our costs are now in excess of £9.5 million a year to support local people with life-limiting llnesses. We receive over 75% of our funding from the local community. The funds given by the public will enable us to continue to provide care for all who need it, both within the hospice and at home. We can’t thank them enough.”
