Margate Rotary Swimathon raises over £660 for Pilgrims Hospices
The Margate Rotary swimathon took place at Hartsdown Leisure Centre last autumn. Derek and the Dominos and Team Bannatyne chose to support Pilgrims, raising over £660. The group of ladies from Team Bannatyne was also nominated as the top sponsorship team and were presented with a trophy by the President Trevor Mursell.
Roy Copper the swimathon Chairman said: “Teams participating in Margate Rotary Clubs annual swimathon 50-50 have the option of which charity they wish to support. We are delighted that Pilgrims Hospices was one of those options and raised over £660, which was presented on Wednesday 13th February.”
Karen Kenward Regional Fundraising Manager said: “The continued support we receive from the Rotary Club is absolutely fantastic. We are so grateful to those who took part in The Swimathon.
“Pilgrims Hospices relies on the local community to help raise more than £9.5 million a year to support local people with life-limiting illnesses in east Kent. We really could not run all our three sites in Thanet, Ashford and Canterburywithout your help. The money raised will enable us to continue to provide care for all those who need it.”
