Boxing Day Dip Was A Real Splash

Gathered around the Tree of Love
On the evening of Saturday 17th December around 1100 people gathered together in the grounds of Pilgrims Hospices in Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet to remember their loved ones. Carols were sung around the Trees of Love which were illuminated and decorated with personalised tags of dedications.
Canine fundraising is a winner
Eighteen dogs and their owners from the Capel Dog Training Club strolled along the Leas in Folkestone recently and raised an astounding £715. A number of breeds were represented including the giant Leonberger. Harry’s Coastal Runs Raises £2,000!
Harry Roberts, one of Canterbury’s promising young sports stars has completed a twenty mile run along the Kent coast, raising over £2,000 in funds for Pilgrims Hospices. Sophie’s Windermere Swim Raises £300
On 3rd September, Sophie Papougnot bravely took on the challenge of swimming Lake Windermere to raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices after she was touched by the death of the mother of one of her young pupils. Sophie had been keen to complete the swim since she successfully swam the English Channel in 2003, and encouraged friends and family to sponsor her for the swim.
Community Supporters raise £1100
Doreen Woods, one of Pilgrims Hospices community supporters, has this year raised an amazing £1,100 through a variety of events held in aid of the London Road hospice. Young at Hearts Christmas Bazaar
The Young at Hearts, a social club in High Halden, held their annual Christmas Bazaar on November 5th. Home made produce, crafts and Christmas gifts were popular purchases on the day. As a result of their fantastic efforts Nigel Donkin, Regional Fundraising Manager received a cheque for a £1066 from Jan Morgan.
Slimming Club members raise a stunning £7980 for Pilgrims Hospice
Local Rosemary Conley consultant Caroline Ward and her members adopted Pilgrims Hospices as their nominated charity for in May 2011. Their first fundraising event was an Aerobathon which attracted over 50 members all of whom donated £10 to enter and were sponsored for their efforts.
