Cycling has been on the up and up for quite a few years but last year really saw a meteoric rise in its popularity and our British women were right up there at the top of their sport.

We know that there are lots of ladies out there with bikes who, with a bit of encouragement and support from us, would like to jump in the saddle this year and experience the joys and benefits of cycling. We have created an event for female cyclists of ALL cycling abilities and levels of fitness and an environment that will make you feel confident and supported where you can have fun whilst raising money for a fantastic local cause.

Our Divas on Wheels ride offers a 25 mile and a 50 mile circular route which will take you through some of the best scenery in east Kent. The start and finish location will be at Bike Tart, a long-time Pilgrims supporter, who is located in the picturesque Elham Valley, just a few miles outside Canterbury.

We’ll support you throughout the day with plenty of refreshment stops and loos, mobile bike maintenance support for the dreaded punctures, motivation from our “Bike Hero” escorts and pampering when you cross the finishing line! And when you finish, you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with a lovely goody bag full of treats and a finishers’ medal to prove that you really did do it!

You need to be 14 years and over to take part and need to complete a parental consent form if you are between 14 – 17 years and must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be a series of gentle training rides taking place from mid May to help you to get cycling fit and to build up your confidence, especially if you are a novice cyclist. We will be doing some basic bike maintenance at the start of some of the rides but you may like to do your own course at Biketart who are offering a special Divas 10% discount on their courses. The rides will cater for all fitness levels and cycling ability – the idea is to come and meet some like-minded women and have some fun too. We want you to feel good about your cycling and have the best possible experience on the actual day.

The fee is £20 in advance or £25 on the day. It’s great value for a wonderful day out! We would love you to try and collect sponsorship money but it is not essential. Pilgrims Hospices costs in excess of £9.5 million a year to run and events like these help us to continue caring for local people at the end of their lives.
