Trees of Love for schools
Are you thinking about organising a Christmas Carol Service for your school? Would you like to make it extra special this year? Why not let us help you organise a Trees of Love service.
Trees of Love has been a familiar part of life in Pilgrims Hospices for many years. It started out being a carol service event with a Christmas tree at each of our sites in Thanet, Canterbury and Ashford, with personalised tags to commemorate loved ones who had died and were missed, particularly at Christmas.
We would like to give schools the opportunity to use the principle of Trees of Love to create a special carol service that will give your pupils and staff an opportunity to remember people special to them. The service can be tailored to reflect the particular experiences of the school and give children the opportunity to pause, remember and express their feelings.
Personalising the event
The more personalised the event, the better. For instance, why not get the children to decorate tags for the tree containing the names of their loved ones, like a special friend or a member of their family such as a grandparent, pets that have died, children and/or teachers who were at the school but have passed away, people who are ill, or just people who live far away.
In our experience, this event can be extremely positive and encouraging to everyone for the New Year.
