Description
This is a five-day course specifically targeted for Health Care Assistants and Associate Practitioners who work in hospices, hospitals, community, care homes and other independent organisations.
As a result of attending the course, delegates will:
- Understand the meaning of excellent Palliative Care and its usage in
- different situations
- Explore their own contribution to the total care and management of the
- Patient and family from an inter-professional perspective
- Understand the concepts of loss, grief and bereavement
- Understand the principles of support and effective communication with
- Patients and families in order to enhance care practice
- Be aware of the importance of providing evidence based practice

- 28th May2012 Day 2: Philosophy and Principles of EOLC
- 11th June 2012 Day 3: Psychosocial care, spirituality and bereavement
- 18th June 2012 Day 4: Ethics & caring for patients at the very end of life
- 25th June 2012 Day 5: Management & Control of Symptoms
Times: All days 9.30am — 4.30pm
Venues: Pilgrims Hospice, Thanet
The costs for the above dates are being met by the Kent & Medway End of Life Care Training project, funded by the South of England Strategic Health Authority.
