Feeling Good Pamper Morning

Our qualified Pilgrims therapists offer a choice of treatments that can promote relaxation, reduce stress and improve self confidence when you are coping with a life limiting illness. These include massage, reiki, manicures, foot spas, facials and beauty treatments. This is a very informal and relaxed session and like all our sessions is free of charge.

Who it’s for: Patients and carers are welcome.

How many sessions are there: This is a single three hour session and a light lunch will be provided.

Discover ways to feel calmer in body and mind.

Worry and stress are normal when you or someone you care for is living with a life limiting illness. However if worry is affecting your quality of life you may need additional support to manage these feelings. Our Occupational Therapy team will work with you and your carer to have a greater understanding of the causes of anxiety and explore practical skills that may help you manage better.

Who it’s for: Patients and carers are welcome.

How many sessions are there: Four alternate weekly sessions each lasting two hours.

If you have the symptom of breathlessness, this group can help to improve your quality of life.

The programme uses medication free methods of Breathlessness Management, including controlled breathing techniques . We will also help you practice relaxation and anxiety management.

Who it’s for: Patients and carers are welcome.

How many sessions are there: Three weekly sessions each lasting an hour.

This group, held in the therapy gym, can help you improve your quality of life and stay active through exercise. We use gentle circuit training exercises and full body workouts to strengthen your cardiovascular fitness (stamina). The programme is adapted to your individual needs and capability.

How many sessions are there: Six sessions each lasting an hour.

If you are experiencing feelings of overwhelming tiredness that are affecting your concentration and ability to take part in every day activities, this group is for you. Our Occupational Therapists can help you and your carer understand these symptoms better and introduce a range of strategies to help you feel more in control. This is a three week group open to patients and their carers.

This group is for you if you have already attended one of the other exercise groups and feel you would like to continue with supervised exercise in our therapy gym. Our team will be on hand to give you guidance and advice.

How many sessions are there: Weekly sessions lasting up to two hours.

Oops a Daisy, Stop That Fall is an educational and exercise group for people at risk of falling. It involves seated and standing exercises designed to strengthen your legs and improve your balance. Together we talk you through a range of topics and techniques for falls prevention. You will also learn exercises you can continue with at home, after you have completed the programme.

Who’s it for: Patients.

How many sessions are there: Six weekly sessions each lasting an hour.

This is a seated exercise programme led by Pilgrims physiotherapists . The aim of the group is to strengthen, maintain movement and function. The group is held in our therapy gym using a range of exercise equipment. You will also learn exercises you can continue with at home after you finish the programme.
