Join us in 2027 for Pilgrims' unmissable running event – the Miner’s Way Challenge. Celebrating east Kent’s proud mining heritage, this exciting running festival offers three unique runs, for all abilities: a multi-terrain half marathon, a fast 10km tarmacked loop, and a fun family trail adventure. Every stride you take will help raise vital funds to support hospice care across east Kent.

The routes

With three routes to choose from, the Miner’s Way Challenge is perfect for all the family.

The Explorer: 3km Family Trail Run - View map(opens in new tab)

The Explorer is all about fun, family, and adventure. This short, themed trail around Betteshanger Country Park is designed for children, families, and walkers to enjoy together. Follow the clues, spot the wildlife, and discover the secrets of the park as you go. It’s the perfect way to introduce young adventurers to the excitement of running and being active outdoors.

For more of a challenge, or for those who are training for a half marathon, The Circuit offers a 10km run on the smooth, tarmacked roads of Betteshanger Country Park. The 3-lap, closed-loop course is ideal for setting a personal best, running with friends, or simply enjoying the park’s wide paths and stunning scenery. Whether you’re new to running or chasing a PB, The Circuit is a perfect fit.

The Challenge: 21km Half Marathon Trail Run - View map(opens in new tab)(opens in new tab)

Take on the ultimate test of endurance with our multi-terrain half marathon, following the historic Miner’s Way Trail from Aylesham to Betteshanger Country Park. This 13.1-mile route winds through woodland, fields, and village trails, before finishing in the heart of Betteshanger. Perfect for runners looking for a rewarding long-distance challenge!
