Christmas Tree Recycling – Faversham Drop-Off Station 2025

Christmas tree recycling – this weekend at Macknade. Support local hospice care in east Kent by recycling your tree with Pilgrims. 

Back for its fourth year, Pilgrims Hospices will be operating a dedicated Christmas tree drop-off recycling station at Macknade in Faversham, available to residents of the town and surrounding villages in return for a chosen donation.

So don’t feel stumped that you live outside of our usual tree collection council areas, you can still say farewell to your festive fir in a sustainable way by bringing it to our tree drop-off station to be recycled. 

As easy as 1, 2, tree!

1. Registration has now closed for online bookings. You can still bring your Christmas tree to the drop-off station on Saturday 11th (09:00 – 16:o0) or Sunday 12th (10:00 – 16:00)
2. Please pop along and donate your chosen amount to support Pilgrims Hospices either in cash or card on the day and we’ll do the rest

The Christmas tree drop-off recycling station will be open on Saturday 11th (9:00 – 16:00) and Sunday 12th (10:00 – 16:00) January 2025

Please note:

• Real Christmas trees only. We cannot accepted any artificial trees, or trees with decorations, bases or pots. 
• Any trees over 8ft tall or 4ft wide must be chopped ideally in half or into reasonably-sized pieces in advance of drop off.

Tree recycling is operated as a free service by Pilgrims Hospices. Please show your appreciation by giving generously to support Pilgrims Hospices to be there for the next family who needs our specialist care and support.

How your donation could help

This Christmas, your kind support could help local people who are living with a life-limiting illness.

• £12 could pay for a patient’s Christmas dinner.
• £15 could give a complementary therapy session to a patient, relieving anxiety.
• £20 could provide for a physiotherapy session to help a patient stay active and enjoy festive games with their family on Christmas day.
• £30 could enable our Community Team to hold a consultation with a patient in their own home.
• £45 could pay for one-on-one counselling for someone struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one this festive season.
• £100 could allow our community nurses to continue making home visits, ensuring that patients can spend Christmas at home with family and friends.

How are the Christmas trees recycled and how is the money raised?

The last Christmas tree recycling campaign raised over £60,000 to support the vital care of patients facing incurable illness in east Kent, with more than 3,250 real Christmas trees recycled in Canterbury, Thanet and Ashford. We are only able to raise this through our community giving generously when registering online.

All trees are chipped on site by professional arborists A Bird. With special thanks to Macknade Food Hall, Faversham for their fantastic support in hosting the drop-off station.
