Virgin Money London Marathon 2021

Sunday 3 October 2021

Run the London Marathon for Pilgrims in October 2021.

Each year, more than 40,000 runners flock to London to take on the iconic London Marathon, the largest annual fundraising event in the world. Since 1981 the London Marathon has weaved from east to west, starting in Greenwich and finishing in Westminster.

You’ll begin your 26.2 mile challenge in Greenwich park where you’ll have the chance to look over the beautiful city of London before it’s filled with fellow runners all taking on their own challenge. As you head for Westminster you’ll pass Charlton House, the Royal Artillery Barracks and the historic Cutty Sark. At 12.5 miles you’ll cross Tower Bridge to crowds of cheers and applause, shortly after you’ll view the infamous Tower of London and at 18.5 miles you’ll run through the business centre of London, Canary Wharf. As you cross the Blackwall Basin you’ll catch a glimpse of the 02 arena to your right before you enter the Blackwall Tunnel at mile 24 where you’ll emerge to a cheering crowd for the final miles. The stretch along the Victoria Embankment will give you views of the London Eye and Big Ben across the River Thames and in the final few miles you’ll run parallel to St James Park as the crowds begin to grow as you round the Victoria Memorial onto the Mall and you’ll set your sights on the memorable finish line.

London Marathon have made the decision to move the 2021 event from its usual April date to October to maximise the chances of the mass participation event being able to take place.
