For one day only, Sandling Park will be opening their Grade II Heritage Gardens set mainly in woodland which was part of the medieval forest of Westenhanger. It is a collection built up by the Hardy family for over a hundred years.
This wonderful 25 acre woodland garden abounds with rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias (over 200 different ones), primulas and wild flowers. The azaleas collection is considered to be one of the finest in the country. There are so many delights to see including the rose garden with tree peonies, viburnums and others. There are 20 national champion trees, all young and rare, but perhaps the most important aspect of the collection is the population of more than 200 wild-sourced trees which still retain their collector’s numbers.
You will need to allow 2 hours for the garden tour and expect to walk for about a mile.
Teas, coffee and hand made cakes will be available.
It is an absolute must see for all garden lovers in 2013 So book this in your diary. All proceeds will be going to Pilgrims Hospices.
