£1,600 from Orbit South residents boosts funds for Pilgrims Hospice Thanet
Staff and residents from two of Orbit South’s sheltered housing schemes in the Thanet area handed over a cheque for £1,500 and another £100 in cash to Pilgrims Hospices on Friday 11 January after a year of dedicated fundraising.
Fundraisers from residential schemes Victoria Villa, Margate and Napleton Court, Ramsgate joined together to maximise their fundraising efforts for Pilgrims Hospices, their chosen charity for 2012.
Donations were raised through a series of events throughout the year, including a quiz night, various raffles and sales and a summer fête, which raised an impressive £715 on its own.
Jill Larcombe, Orbit South Scheme Manager at Victoria Villa, said: “We are really pleased to be able to give this donation to Pilgrims Hospices in the knowledge that it will help local people who have a life-limiting condition.
“Our staff and residents have enjoyed events we have worked hard to hold during the year knowing their contributions have such a positive impact on the community.”
Karen Kenward, Regional Fundraising Manager at Pilgrims Hospices, said: “The support we received from Orbit South throughout 2012 has been amazing.
“We are truly grateful to all the staff and residents. The money enables us to continue to provide care for all who need it, both in the hospice and at home.
“Pilgrims Hospices relies on the local community to help raise more than £9.5 million a year to support local people with life-limiting illnesses, we would like to thank everyone involved for all of their kind support.”
