Trees of Love
Pilgrims welcomed over 1,000 visitors who sang and remembered loved ones who will not be with them this Christmas. The trees were decorated with tags of dedication and lights. Supporters made generous donations totaling £46,500 with money still coming in.
Supporter Services Manager Richard Warner said: “We were thrilled to welcome so many people to the Hospices at this time of year and were overwhelmed with their generosity. It has been a hard year financially for our local community but their support is unfaltering.”
Rev’d Lizzie Hopthrow read Starlight at Canterbury Hospice which you might like to share further this Christmas.
Starlight
Starlight
pierce the night of my darkness
with loving memories of all I hold dear.
Starlight
pierce the night of my sorrow
with healing of anger, pain regret and fear.
Starlight
pierce the night of my confusion
with guidance on my pathway here.
Starlight
pierce the night of my loneliness
with companionship to hold and cheer.
Starlight,
ever bright,
still shining when the clouds won’t clear:
help me to look and see
the Morning Star that heralds
that the Daylight will appear
