Community Fundraising Volunteer – Canterbury

Location: Canterbury

Status: Flexible days / hours depending on the preference of the applicant

Pilgrims Hospices is looking for volunteers to join our Community Fundraising team at our Canterbury hospice.

If you have time to spare and want to make a difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you.

Our Community Fundraising volunteers undertake a range of tasks, including:

Collections

We hold collections throughout the year at supermarkets across Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable, and Faversham. These collections play a key role in raising the funds we need to keep running our much-loved hospices and services. There’s no selling or pressure—just standing by a Pilgrims information stand with leaflets and a donation bucket. It’s a great way to connect with the community and meet new people. We aim to hold collections monthly, with weekly events over Christmas if possible, but you can volunteer whenever it suits you—no regular commitment required.

Events

We enjoy taking part in a variety of community events, from school and village fairs to larger gatherings like the East Kent Ploughing Match and community days at Kent Cricket Ground. Volunteering here often involves running games and managing information stands with leaflets and merchandise. These events are always fun and offer a fantastic opportunity to meet people and develop communication skills.

General office administration

If you prefer an office setting, we have simple admin tasks like sending thank-you letters, preparing posters, researching fundraising opportunities, and maintaining community group lists. We aim to make every task enjoyable and rewarding!

If any of these sound like something you’d enjoy, you’ll be warmly welcomed into our friendly fundraising team.

Benefits to you

Volunteering in fundraising is deeply rewarding and brings a real sense of personal satisfaction. You’ll see firsthand how your time and skills directly support compassionate care, making a meaningful difference in many lives. Plus, it’s a chance to learn new skills and gain valuable experience.

Benefits to others

Our volunteers are the heart of Pilgrims Hospices — without them, we couldn’t provide the vital care our patients and families rely on. By joining our fundraising team, you help ensure we can continue supporting those facing life-limiting illnesses in our community.
