Our community events are a lovely, sociable way to get together with friends and family to support Pilgrims.
What's on offer?
If you're not quite ready for a physical event or challenge, getting involved with an event in your community is an equally amazing way to help us provide vital, compassionate care to local people and families. Throughout the year, come rain or shine, our communities join together to celebrate and support local hospice care.
Pilgrims Ashford Christmas Fair is a great example of how the community can pull together to make a difference for their local hospice. My friends and I had so much fun playing games, buying beautiful Christmas gifts and enjoying delicious homemade treats. The next fair is already in the diary!

Our seasonal fairs are always popular, no matter the weather. Our Vintage Tea and Fair in Canterbury's beautiful Westgate Gardens offers a retro vibe. What better way to spend a summer afternoon than watching punts pass by on the river with a pot of tea, a slice of delicious cake and luxury vintage craft stalls to treat yourself with? We also hold our annual Christmas Fair in Ashford, where you can stock up on Christmas gifts and treat yourself to a mine piece or two... or three!
Pilgrims remembrance events offer a peaceful, reflective way to pay tribute to a loved one in return for a donation. Sunflower Memories takes place at each hospice site during the summer, inviting you to dedicate a sunflower memory marker and place it in our gardens. Trees of Love is our series of special, festive remembrance services that take place in December at each hospice and in the wider community. You can dedicate a dove to hang on our illuminated Trees of Love and remember those we aren't able to spend time with at Christmas.
In January, Ashford Borough Council residents can have their Christmas trees collected by us in return for a donation to Pilgrims. Our Tree Recycling volunteer teams brave the cold to come out and help us send them off for recycling.
We're also proud to be part of the Kent Sheds movement, giving local people the chance to learn new skills and make new friends. Find out how you can get involved.
Our Education team host Time to Talk community events throughout the year for the general public, aiming to open up the conversation about death and dying; with film screenings, poetry readings and Death Cafes and much more, there’s something for everyone.
We encourage donations at all of our community events so that we can continue supporting patients and families to live well in every moment.
Check out our event calendar or contact your local fundraising team to find out more about our latest community events.
