Jayne's story
As a long-time supporter of Pilgrims, Jayne wants to make sure our care is still here for future generations.
"My long-term relationship with supporting Pilgrims - both as a fundraiser and volunteer - is the reason why I have chosen to also make a gift in my Will, so my support can continue, even when I am no longer here in person."
April's story
Although she had no direct experience of Pilgrims, April's career as a nurse led her to support the much-needed care of local people.
"April's kind gift in her Will has touched the lives of so many, continuing her legacy of compassion."
Shirley's story
Shirley Johnston experienced Pilgrims vital care first-hand, when her mum and husband both needed us at the end of their lives.
"I could never have cared for either my husband or my mum in the way the hospice cared for them. I’m leaving a gift to the hospice to ensure that this incredible service continues to be here for future generations, for my children and grandchildren."
Verity's story
Verity wanted to help us make the experience for families better. The gift she left in her Will means that families have a welcoming place to spend time in with their loved ones.
"Every moment together matters when someone in your family is seriously ill. The way a space looks and is organised makes a huge difference to comfort and wellbeing. Thanks to Verity’s generosity and vision, this room now brings a real feeling of home comfort. Her family kindly worked with us to realise these renovations."

Hazel's story
Hazel Hayward's passion for Pilgrims came from a lifetime career of nursing. In her retirement she volunteered in one of our first fundraising teams. She helped raise funds for a brand new hospice in the Isle of Thanet and went on to receive a certificate of merit for her decades of community fundraising. Leaving a gift in her Will was her final act of kindness.
"I first met Hazel when I was a nurse at the hospice, she was incredibly cheerful and so happy to be playing her part in keeping the hospice running"
Mary Annett, friend of Hazel Hayward
