Thanet & District netball league raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices
Posted on 20 December 2016
The Thanet & District netball league recently held a charity tournament to raise money for Pilgrims Hospice, Thanet.
The League chose the Hospice as this is a charity that is close to the hearts of many league members, and was also where the league founder Chairman, Lesley Keel, spent the final few days of her life before gently passing away several years ago.
The tournament was run as a fun day, and enjoyed huge support from all divisions in the league. Teams were created on the day, based on the individual playing positions of those taking part. This resulted in some amazing netball, a lot of laughs and so much fun that it has been proposed to make this an annual event.
Karen Kenward, Community Fundraising Manager said: “League Chairman, Linda Bushell and Tournament Co-ordinator, Jackie Hickman came along to present the hospice with a cheque for £700. I would like to thank the generosity of the many sponsors and supporters of the league. This really is an a amazing donation and will help continue to support palliative care both within the hospice and at home.”
