It’s never to early to register your tree for collection

The Pilgrims Hospices Tree Recycling service has already seen its first donations as the Christmas season gets underway. So far over 100 people have already donated to Pilgrims by registering their trees to be collected by their team of volunteers in January.
Victoria Friar, Community Fundraising Manager explained: “Last year this simple but effective scheme raised £14,000 towards the vital work of Pilgrims. It is easy to register your tree online for a donation to Pilgrims and on the weekend of 14th & 15th January we will arrange to have your tree collected and taken to the Ashford Household Waste Recycling Centre where they are rotted down into compost.
“No matter what size your tree we can pick it up, although if it is over 10 foot tall, we do ask for you to cut it into manageable pieces for us to collect.
“We are conscious that many people do not have a real Christmas tree but love the idea of this creative scheme. So if you would like to donate on behalf of your artificial tree then you can also text LEAF17 £10 to 70070 (The amount can be anything you chose eg £5, £10, £15 etc. )”
The money raised will enable Pilgrims to continue to support hundreds of local people coping with a life limiting illness and their families. The charity offers a range of services: from end of life care given on its wards, to its new wellbeing and social programme supporting people after they are diagnosed to live well and stay independent.
