Hair-raising donation of £6200 to Pilgrims Hospices

Long-established Canterbury hairdresser, Steven James had their best ever fundraising year for Pilgrims Hospices. Jim Flower and his sons, Steven and James who are the fifth generation to come in to the family firm, have been supporting the local charity for over 14 years. Their annual Christmas raffle is so well-known and anticipated by their clients, that they have requests for tickets as early as October. Prizes are all donated by clients in their Canterbury and Faversham salons and this year they were amazed to be presented with an iPad 2, a week’s accommodation in France, “something for the weekend” Range Rover hire and numerous other sought after prizes.

Canine fundraising is a winner

Eighteen dogs and their owners from the Capel Dog Training Club strolled along the Leas in Folkestone recently and raised an astounding £715. Harry’s Coastal Runs Raises £2,000!

Sophie’s Windermere Swim Raises £300

On 3rd September, Sophie Papougnot bravely took on the challenge of swimming Lake Windermere to raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices after she was touched by the death of the mother of one of her young pupils. Sophie had been keen to complete the swim since she successfully swam the English Channel in 2003, and encouraged friends and family to sponsor her for the swim.

Community Supporters raise £1100

Red Lion’s first birthday raises £4600 for Pilgrims Hospices

Energetic proprietors, Rene and Harry, of the Red Lion Inn in Bridge chose Pilgrims Hospices as their charity beneficiary for the pub’s first anniversary celebration. Patrons were given an excuse to dress to impress and were treated to a sumptuous meal from locally-sourced produce and an auction with “unable to buy” prizes.

Frocks Away Raises £800

 On Sunday 10th April twenty four people will be leaping from the dizzying height of 12,000ft to commemorate the life of Nicola Parker (nee. Hickman) and raise money for Pilgrims Hospices.
