Cook – Canterbury (part time)

Pilgrims Hospices is looking for a friendly Cook to join our team on a part-time basis (21 hours per week), producing fresh meals for patients and staff according to a daily menu at our Canterbury hospice site.
The Role
As a Cook you will work as part of a team to ensure our hospice can consistently cater a 365 day organisation. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Producing nutritionally balanced meals for patients, staff and visitors according to a daily menu.
- Liaising with other professionals in respect of special diets, that might be required for individual patients.
- Ensuring the required standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained at all times.
- Providing supervision and guidance to Catering Assistants.
- Deputising for the Head Chef as required.
The post holder must ensure that food preparation is completed to a high standard, in line with standards expected within a healthcare and catering environment.
Working Arrangements
This is a part time role (21 hours per week) and is based at Pilgrims Hospice Canterbury. Working days will be between Monday and Sunday. The successful candidate will be required to work early and/or late shifts, between the hours of 6:30AM – 20:00PM. You will be provided with on-site parking, a uniform and subsidised meals during your work day.

About You
To be successful in this role you should:
- Have experience of working in a professional kitchen or similar environment
- Possess Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and / or relevant catering qualifications
- Ability to work using own initiative and without supervision
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
