Pilgrims Hospices is looking for a Retail Supervisor to join the team in our Canterbury shop, STORE5O, helping to motivate staff and volunteers; support the day-to-day running of the shop; and provide a courteous and helpful service to the public.
The Role
As the Retail Supervisor you will work as part of a team to ensure our retail shop is a successful source of income generation whilst maintaining a good rapport with the local community. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Meeting agreed financial targets
- Maintaining effective stock management and merchandising
- Managing and training volunteers
- Carrying out shop administration
- Ensuring adequate security
- Following Health & Safety Policy and Procedures and giving training when needed
- Implementing and ensuring the growth of our Gift Aid scheme

Working Arrangements
This is a part-time role (21 hrs per week) and is based at Pilgrims Hospices Canterbury Shop. Working days will be between Monday and Sunday. You will need to be able to work flexibly, additional hours when required, and weekends.
About You
To be successful in this role you should have:
- Previous sales experience
- Previous experience of working within a target driven environment
- Previous experience of working with a volunteer staff group would be desirable
- The ability to make commercially informed decisions
- Knowledge of the retail operation including stock handling and visual merchandising
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, personable and able to relate to volunteers
- Willing to work flexible and additional hours including weekends
