Pilgrims launches awards for improvements in end of life care

Pilgrims Hospices nurses have launched east Kent’s very first Patricia Morley Awards for Improvements in End of Life Care.

The awards celebrate excellence in the end of life care given to people in east Kent and their families.

They have been launched by the hospice charity, thanks to a legacy donation from the family of past Kent and Canterbury Senior Matron and Pilgrims trustee Pat Morley.

Nurses and Allied Healthcare Professionals who work for the NHS or Pilgrims Hospices anywhere in East Kent can apply.

A chance to thank Kent’s caring professionals

Wendy Hills, Pilgrims Director of Nursing and Care, explained: “At Pilgrims we are committed to having a positive impact on the end of life care of as many people in east Kent as possible. This new award is a very special chance for us to say thank you to the hundreds of other professionals in Kent who work so hard to give the best end of life care at a time when families need it most.”

Pat Morley worked tirelessly to promote excellent nursing within the profession she loved. She also volunteered for many years as a Trustee of Pilgrims Hospices, where her experience was invaluable.

Added Wendy: “It’s an honour that Pat’s family has been so generous as to support the launch of this award as part of her legacy. If you can relate to Patricia Morley’s enthusiasm for excellence in care then this award could be for you!”
