The Whitstable Oyster Singers ‘Sing for Pilgrims’
Posted on 9 January 2017
The Oyster Singers, a community choir based in Whitstable, chose Pilgrims Hospices as their charity of the year for 2016 and raised an incredible £894.71!
The group, which are a mixed choir of approximately 50 people sing a wide variety of music from pop, rock, and soul to traditional. The Oyster Singers held collections at a number of concerts during the year to raise money for hospice care and their local community supported the cause extremely well, with more money still coming in.
Sophie Douch, Community Fundraising Officer at the Canterbury Hospice said: “Thank you very much to the Oyster Singers for choosing Pilgrims Hospices as their charity of the year. They are obviously a popular choir in the local community, so thank you to everyone that has supported their concerts and collections through 2016. Support from our community is vital in helping us to raise the £11 million we need every year and we really couldn’t do it without groups like this.”
