February is Fundraising Month in Canterbury!
The Fundraising team at Canterbury Pilgrims Hospices have declared February as Fundraising Month. In an effort to recruit new volunteers, Deborah and Laura will be hosting ‘drop in’ sessions each week in February at the London Road hospice to allow potential volunteers to learn more about how they can get involved.
There are a wide range of activities that volunteers can take part in. Supermarkets and high streets across the Canterbury area often allow collectors in to raise funds and collections can be themed to fancy dress, seasons, or simply a group of colleagues or friends wanting to come and do something different.
There are three fairs held at the London Road site every year, Spring, Summer and Christmas. We always need volunteers to man stalls, sell refreshments, raffle tickets and programmes, provide signage and help us with promotion, both on the day and in advance.
Volunteering at the various sporting events that happen throughout the year is a great way of supporting Pilgrims Hospices. The Moonlight Walk, Light Up the City, and the Cycle Challenge require a large number of volunteers to marshal, register cyclists, walkers or runners, hand out medals, sell refreshments and merchandise and assist with the set up and clear up of the events. The hospice has joined forces with Sport Makers, a charity which recognises volunteering at sports based events. Volunteers who want to help at one of Pilgrims Hospices sports based events can sign up to be a Sport Maker on the website and will be able to log hours to go towards their Sport Maker accreditation. For more details or information about Sport Makers, please see http://www.sportmakers.co.uk/. For more details about any of our sporting events, please see the events pages.
Volunteers don’t need qualifications or any previous experience and we welcome all volunteers over the age of 16.
