Make Friday 13th lucky with Moonlight Walk
Posted on 9 September 2013
Hundreds of walkers in glittery headgear gear and stylish Buff® scarves will parade along the seafront in Herne Bay this Friday for the Pilgrims Hospices Moonlight Walk.
The family event kicks off 8pm from Kings Hall with live entertainment and warm up exercises to get everyone in the mood for the 10 or 15km return walk under the moonlight to Whitstable.
“Together we want to make Friday the 13th the luckiest night in the calendar,” said Deborah Kellond, Pilgrims Hospices regional fundraising manager. “This year, as always, we have had a tremendous response from local people and businesses registering teams and working really hard to raise sponsorship. We are looking forward to a great atmosphere on the night and it would be amazing if we can beat last year’s amount raised of 30k.”
Walkers can expect plenty of pampering along the way with volunteer Ginny Taylor’s homemade flapjacks and chocolate brownies being shared from the Pilgrims Branded Stagecoach bus at the half way point, as well as pampering massages from local health company Bodywell and treats to nibble on from Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shop.
Your Music School will provide live music to get everyone in the mood and Kelly Cullen from Kelly’s Fitness Group will provide some pulse-raiser exercises before the walk!
Online registration is still being encouraged or you can register on the night, with the whole entry fee of £15 going straight into the running of Pilgrims three hospices across east Kent. Under 5s go free.
