Stan The Man switches on the Christmas lights
Posted on 3 December 2012
South Street in Canterbury is a blaze of light these evenings now that Stan ‘The Man’ Truelove has switched on the Christmas lights of his, and his neighbour’s houses.
Dozens of local residents turned out on Friday evening to watch Stan’s baby grand daughter Amy press a large button in the front garden to switch on hundreds of lights making festive shapes and patterns.
Stan the Man has decorated his house with Christmas lights on his house for the past few years now and visitors are able to donate to charity – this year Pilgrims Hospices is the beneficiary.
BBC South East TV broadcast the big switch on live on their early evening programme and regional fundraising manager Deborah Kellond was interviewed by presenter Peter Whittlesea about Pilgrims Hospices.
People can go and see the lights in South Street – at numbers 26 and 28 – from late afternoon onwards each day until Christmas.
