A smooth outcome for Pilgrims Hospices

Mike Fuller 55, the “gaffer” of Ashford’s Beaver Football Club has endured torture for Pilgrims Hospices – by having his chest waxed!
With the support of the Beaver Inn’s regulars and his team, he raised £860 for the charity.
Mike explained: “Last year my sister-in-law was looked after at the hospice in Ashford and the care she received was wonderful. I wanted to do something in return.
“My team was looking for revenge for all the hard times I’ve given them so came up with a list of suggestions – all involving pain. A chest wax seemed the easiest option!”
Pauline Donkin, community care coordinator, said: “I was very impressed to see Mike choose a smoother physique in aid of Pilgrims Hospices.
“It never ceases to amaze me the different ways people will raise money for us. To go through what must be a painful experience to support Pilgrims shows how highly we are held in the hearts of the local community. 75% of our funding comes from events such as this, enabling us to provide care free of charge for patients and families.”
