Calling all van owners! Can you help Pilgrims Hospice Ashford?

Posted on 9 October 2017

Pilgrims Hospices is calling on Ashford and Tenterden van owners to get involved with this year’s Tree Recycling campaign. The scheme provides Christmas tree collections from homes across the Ashford Borough Council area by teams of volunteers.

The charity is looking for volunteers with Luton or large transit vans, with a crew of three people to help collect the Christmas trees.  The collections run from 8am to 4pm on 13th and 14th January 2018.

On the day crews will all meet at The Ashford Vineyard Warehouse and after a morning cup of tea the teams will go out on different routes to collect the trees and take them to the Ashford Borough Recycling Centre.

We raised over £16,000 through donations last year.

Victoria Friar, Community Fundraising Manager at Pilgrims Hospice Ashford, said: “The more crews and vans we have, the more trees we can collect, the more money we can raise for the hospice.

“Last year’s Tree Recycling was a huge success. We raised over £16,000 through donations people chose to make in return for Pilgrims Hospices collecting their Christmas trees. We hope, with your help, to make this one even better!”

Each year Pilgrims supports hundreds of local people coping with a life limiting illness and their families. The charity offers a range of services: from end of life care given on its wards, to its new Wellbeing and Social Programme supporting people after they are diagnosed to live well and stay independent.
