Hair-raising donation of £6200 to Pilgrims Hospices
Long-established Canterbury hairdresser, Steven James had their best ever fundraising year for Pilgrims Hospices. Jim Flower and his sons, Steven and James who are the fifth generation to come in to the family firm, have been supporting the local charity for over 14 years. Their annual Christmas raffle is so well-known and anticipated by their clients, that they have requests for tickets as early as October. Prizes are all donated by clients in their Canterbury and Faversham salons and this year they were amazed to be presented with an iPad 2, a week’s accommodation in France, “something for the weekend” Range Rover hire and numerous other sought after prizes.

Pilgrims Hospice runners train hard for the London Marathon
Six runners have put themselves forward for the gruelling task of running the London marathon for Pilgrims Hospices. Among them is Spencer Goddard from Hamstreet, who decided to challenge himself when he spent a day with a group of Marines and found out that some members of the armed forces cover marathon distances every day carrying their equipment.

Knatch Jazz with Bangers and Mash
The fabulous Norton Knatchbull Jazz Band is to perform again for the second year at the Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone in aid of Pilgrims Hospices.
Kent in Focus – Photography Competition Launches
Pilgrims Hospices is launching its 30th anniversary year with a competition that everyone can take part in. Keen photographers are being asked to capture some memorable images of the people and places in your county throughout 2012 in the ‘Kent in Focus’ competition.

Funds Raised at Druid Evening
A cheque for £402 was presented to Pilgrims Hospice Thanet by Maria Pearce and her son James Wood in memory of Allan Pearce who was cared for at the Hospice. Great Valley Run Raises £3,000 for Pilgrims Hospices
On Christmas Eve, some very colourful characters ran and walked through the Elham Valley for a local charity. Batman, a teddy bear and a trio of tigers were just some of the runners and walkers who took part in the Great Valley Run.

Choir hits all the right notes to raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices
In 2010 Ashford Sings! a local community choir was created by Chris and Nic Kimmance. The choir wanted to support a local community charity, so the partnership was formed between Pilgrims Hospices and the choir. The initial aim was to raise £1000.

Rocking Horse Triumphs
Last year saw the staggering sum of £7040 donated to Pilgrims Hospice by fundraising volunteer Ron Taber. £3,400 of this was raised when he raffled a beautiful rocking horse which he lovingly hand crafted for Christmas.
Carol Singing Raises £300
An afternoon spent playing carols has given Pilgrims Hospices in Canterbury a welcome Christmas donation of £307. Lily Jarvis Keysell (saxophone) from Faversham, together with her school friends from Canterbury, Jo Booth and Jessie Burr (clarinets) decided to play carols around two retirement parks in Canterbury, to raise money for Pilgrims Hospices.
