Sunflower appeal raises £26,000 for Pilgrims

Hundreds of bright yellow wooden sunflowers, set in matching wheelbarrows, are adorning the gardens of Pilgrims Hospices in Canterbury, Margate and Ashford until the end of this month.
More than 600 sunflowers went on public display on Sunday as the culmination of a fundraising appeal which has now raised more than £26,000 for the charity. The money will be used towards providing continued free care for patients with life-limiting illness across east Kent.
The wheelbarrows were kindly provided by Boys & Maughan solicitors and added a real touch of brightness to the occasion, said Pilgrims in memoriam fundraiser Pauline Donkin.
She added: “It was wonderful to welcome hundreds of our supporters into the gardens of our three hospices. Their generosity in supporting the sunflower appeal has been magnificent and extremely touching. A further big thank you to all our great volunteers who assured everyone was well looked after on the day.”
The sunflowers will remain on display in the gardens until Sunday 31 August and everyone is welcome to visit and view them.
