Palliative and end-of-life care touches every one of us at some time in our lives, regardless of age or circumstance. Whether that is through facing the end of life ourselves, living with someone who is, or grieving the loss of a loved one, with over half a million people projected to die annually, and a significant portion living with a life expectancy of less than a year, the need for such care is undeniable. As our population ages, this demand will only increase, emphasizing the importance of proactive planning of end-of-life care and treatment.
Death and the dying process are unavoidable aspects of life, but living as fully as possible until our final moments is important to all of us. It’s essential to address the needs of individuals who are navigating the challenges of terminal illness, death, and bereavement, along with their families, caregivers, and communities. This entails recognising and honouring their priorities, preferences and wishes.
To this end, the Ambitions Framework for Palliative and End of Life Care was developed by a partnership of national organisations in both the statutory and voluntary sectors. This framework outlines the collective vision to enhance end-of-life care by fostering partnerships and collaborative initiatives among organisations at the local level across England.
Please join us for the Best Practice Forums based on the 6 Ambitions of the framework.
