Palliative Care and COVID Led by Pilgrims Hospices multi-disciplinary team

Ensuring the best end-of-life care has never been more important, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, never more difficult. We have all been doing our best to achieve this, and at Pilgrims we know there has been some remarkable care with people going beyond the call of duty and showing great courage and commitment. We also know there have been some desperately sad and challenging situations that we have all experienced.

Dr. Rakesh Koria pioneered the Best Practice Forum concept. These sessions have always been a place to look collectively at our experiences and identify together the best way forward; running them via Zoom gives us all the opportunity to share our experiences and expertise – wherever we are based. We are very grateful that this, the first Best Practice Forum that Pilgrims has run via Zoom, will benefit from Dr. Koria’s expertise as a member of our panel. The rest of the panel will consist of hospice staff, covering all aspects of patient and family care: physical, psychological, social and spiritual.

Please come prepared with any questions or situations you would like discussed.

Questions you may want to consider:

  • How important is it to plan ahead, especially during these times of COVID?
  • How can you best have these discussions, especially when they are often via telephone or video?
  • What has been the effect of COVID restrictions on professional and informal carers?
  • How do we best look after people’s emotional and spiritual needs during this time?
  • How do we look after ourselves during these times?

Cost: Free

Future Best Practice Forum dates will be announced soon.
