Supporting bereaved children and young people


Course description

This is a one-day course is for teachers at Primary or Secondary level who may have worked, or may need to work, with a child who has experienced the death of a loved one.

As a result of attending, delegates will:

  • Understand what schools can do to support children with family members or friends who have a life-threatening illness;
  • Explore pre- and post- bereavement issues affecting children;
  • Explore culture and spirituality in relation to bereaved children;
  • Understand what resources and support are available in the community for children and teachers.
