What will happen with my Pyjama Walk Entry now that the event is cancelled?

Social distancing measures introduced by the government (16th March), prohibiting by law all public gatherings of more than two people, and telling the population to avoid all but essential travel and contact, remain in place and are likely to continue for the foreseeable future.

We have therefore made the decision to cancel the Pyjama Walk that was scheduled to take place on Saturday 11th July 2020.

While we understand that this decision may come as a disappointment, we hope that you will agree that it is a necessary one in the fight to delay the spread of the coronavirus in our community and save lives.

In light of the event's cancellation, we will be refunding all entries to participants via their original payment methods. If you wish to receive this refund, there is nothing you need to do at this time.

However, if you wish to donate your entry fee to Pilgrims Hospices. Let us know by contacting fundraising@pilgrimshospices.org before Friday 29th May 2020.

All refunds will be processed on the 29th May 2020 deadline.

Absolutely anyone of all fitness levels can take part. Pyjama Walk is an opportunity for you to come together with friends, family or colleagues for the biggest pyjama party in Kent before stepping out under the night sky, at your own pace, for fun, fitness or in memory of a loved one. Completing the 5-mile distance may be more challenging for some, but the route is designed to be as accessible as possible for those with different levels of mobility.

Pyjama Walk is a family event and there is no lower age limit for taking part. If you're under 18 years of age, you must be accompanied by a participating adult and have a signed parental consent form. Children under 3 years of age can come for free.

Early bird entry (closes 31 May 2020)

  • Adults: £10
  • Under 18: £8

Advanced entry (closes 5 July 2020)

  • Adults: £15
  • Under 18: £12

On the night entry

  • Adults: £20
  • Under 18: £15

Children under 3 go free no matter when you sign up.

Much of the entry fee goes towards running the event and making sure that you have an enjoyable and safe experience. We’d love you to raise sponsorship for your walk (after all, not everyone would walk in public in their pyjamas) but it's not essential.

If you'd rather not ask your friends and family for sponsorship, you might like to make a personal donation towards the care we provide. This can be done during the online registration form or at any time on our website (orange button above), at our hospices in Ashford, Canterbury or Margate, or on the day of the event.

It costs Pilgrims Hospices £14 million a year to provide skilled and compassionate care to our community, and events like the Pyjama Walk help us to continue caring for local people as they near the end of life. Please download a sponsorship form, set up your own online fundraising page with JustGiving or call 01227 812609. Don’t forget to encourage your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid box if they’re eligible to do so; for every £1 donated we’ll be able to claim an extra 25p from the Government at no cost to you or your sponsors. It makes a huge difference.

Faster walkers will be around in about 90 minutes. It may take around two and a half hours at a slower pace. Please ensure you have finished and de-registered by 1am.

No, the routes use public footpaths and pavements, often alongside roads. Walkers must be vigilant at all times when navigating these sections, especially if you have children with you. There will be marshals at key positions, such as road crossings. However, these marshals are not empowered to control traffic and you must take full responsibility that it is safe to cross before doing so.

We'll have our signature flashing hair and accessories available to buy during the pre-walk pyjama party which also helps with being seen.

The routes for the Pyjama Walk can be found on the Pyjama Walk webpage.

The walk will be fully marshalled around the route so that you can be confident you're on the right track.

Route maps can also be viewed via the free Pilgrims Hospices Event App for iOS and Android devices.

Yes. We have checked the routes and there are friendly marshals at all key points to assist if necessary.

The Pyjama Walk is a walking event. Due to event logistics and participant safety on the route, we advise against jogging or running.

It isn't a race. Pyjama Walk is about walking together in support of local hospice care. Come and walk among friends, and make new ones along the way!

Absolutely! Many of your fellow jim-jimmers will be coming together with family and friends to remember loved ones in a positive way. During the signing-in period before the walk begins, there will be a memory wall available for you to add photos and messages to. We love you sharing the people who have motivated you to support Pilgrims Hospices.

The routes are accessible and well paved. Water and chocolate will be available to keep you hydrated and for that boost of energy to get you round. First aiders and medical response vehicles will be positioned to respond in case of an emergency.

If you have any health concerns please consult your GP before taking part. If there is a medical emergency you should call 999 and inform the event organiser via the details on your walker number. The emergency services are aware that the event is taking place.

We're always looking for friendly volunteers to help with all aspects of the event, from registration areas to route marshalling at each location. Contact the fundraising team at your local hospice or email fundraising@pilgrimshospices.org for more information.

No, unfortunately, we don't allow dogs to take part in Pyjama Walk as we can't cater for them along the walk and it can be difficult to manage on the route, especially during busier or more crowded sections of the route. The walk is a family event and we would encourage dog owners to consider those with small children that may be afraid of dogs.
